Navy Organic Cotton Sweatshirt with Mushroom Print 2.0

Softest Materials

We use both organic cotton/spandex (90/10) and a bamboo/organic cotton/spandex blend (67/30/3) for the clothing we manufacture in house. The clothing we source for dyeing and printing is also made with organic cotton or a bamboo blend.

Puns for days

We love a good pun here at May and Mary. Our favorite is the Top Crops Crop Top, featuring illustrations of the top three crops grown in the United States (corn, wheat and soy). These crop tops are made with the highest quality organic cotton/spandex fabric and screen printed by our friends in Portland, OR.

Hand Dyed and Printed

Our tie dye pieces are individually tied and hand dyed in our Upstate, NY studio. Our block printed pieces are made using hand carved linotype blocks to carefully stamp the design onto each garment. Every piece is slightly different from the next, which is what makes them so special.

Who Are May and Mary?

I named May and Mary after my grandparents, Maynard and Mary Brown. These people brought me up to believe that I could do anything. They fostered an environment of creativity and encouraged me to follow my dreams. They also taught me my first lessons in sustainability before I knew to call it anything but sorting cans. Living by their example of reducing waste, reusing what you can and recycling the rest has made my business what it is today.
